One of these changes is that the initial indexing of records from historical documents will now be done by FamilySearch’s artificial intelligence rather than by online volunteers. Volunteers will review these initial indexes to catch any mistakes made by AI.
At FamilySearch, we’ve improved the technology behind indexing, giving you new opportunities to volunteer your indexing skills. See the Get Involved section of our site for more information.
Once you've studied the guidelines and familiarized yourself with how to index documents from each batch that you work on, getting experience indexing is likely the most effective way to get better. Those are just my suggestions, so different things might work better for you, but I hope this helps! :)
FamilySearch Indexing is a volunteer project established in 2006 and run by FamilySearch. The project aims to create searchable digital indexes for scanned images of historical documents.
The new indexing activities do not support groups, so the indexing group feature has been removed. To stay connected, consider inviting those who might be interested to a FamilySearch family group or another platform like Facebook.
Before you start indexing the batch, read the Project Instructions. The instructions are located at the bottom of the left-hand side of your image viewer or by the last box on your toolbar.
